The Taieri Gorge Train

DAY 1
Board the Taieri Gorge Railway for one of the worlds great train trips travelling over spectacular ravines spanned by magnificent stone and wrought iron viaducts, through tunnels hewn out of solid rock. Around every bend there are spellbinding vistas with native bush plunging to the Taieri River below. Provision is made for photographers to capture this experience on film or tape.

Gibbston Valley wineryDisembark at Pukerangi or Middlemarch and travel with Executive Cars over the Maniototo Plains to the beauty of Central Otago. Sample the region's award winning wines at Gibbston Valley or Lake Hayes, the southermost vineyards in the world.

 
Golf Ball and Tee MillbrookMillbrook International Resort, your next port of call beckons with two internationally recognised golf courses designed by Bob Charles. Tee off, enjoy a game of golf before dinner at one of Millbrook’s three restaurants. Rest and refresh. The following morning a superb cooked breakfast fortifies you for sightseeing in Arrowtown of 1860’s gold rush fame and Queenstown, the South Pacific foremost tourist destination.

DAY 2
At 10am join the TSS Earnslaw vintage steamer cruise to Walter Peak High Country Station for a short farmyard tour that includes sheep dog demonstrations. You will be amazed at the discipline. TSS Earnslaw

  We will transport you through magnificent High Country Pastoral Lands to Te Anau on a Luxury 4-wheel safari that takes in the exquisite Mavora Lakes (of Lord of the Rings fame). This is spectacular country.

Sutherland FallsOn arrival at Te Anau, you will be whisked away by Southern Lakes Helicopters for a bird’s eye view of Lake Te Anau, and the mountains. You will fly the famous Milford Track, and view the Sutherland Falls, landing at Lake Quill with one further landing of your choice before descending into Milford Sound, where you will re-join your cruise ship.

 ALTERNATIVE

Queenstown to Te Anau by way of Kawerau Gorge to Cromwell and Bannockburn, the forerunner to a back road safari through the remote and beautiful Nevis Crossing rejoining the highway at Garston and then onto Te Anau. This is a whole day tour with lunch at one of the wineries in Bannockburn.

(This tour can be extended to include an extra night at Millbrook with return trip from Milford Sound by Luxury Chauffeurs to Dunedin).
